Each returning scholar influences thousands of lives through public service, entrepreneurship, education, healthcare, policy, and community development. Internship Grant
Our Scholars are required to pursue at least one internship in an African country during their university career. The $4,000 Internship Grant covers:
○ Flight $1,700
○ Accommodations $1,000
○ Meals $500
○ Local transportation $300
○ Stipend $500
Ashinaga Proposal Research Grant
Scholars work on a four-year research project called the Ashinaga Proposal, which seeks to find a solution to a problem identified in their home country. For Scholars who wish to conduct research for their Ashinaga Proposal in their home country, the $2,500 Grant covers:
○ Flight $1,700
○ Local transportation $300
○ Contribution to family expenses: $500
Conference in Africa Prize
Scholars research conferences they would like to attend in Africa to propel their Ashinaga Proposal research, major, and future career, and explain their reasoning in a competitive application process. The $2,500 Prize covers:
○ Flight $1,700
○ Conference attendance fees $200
○ Accommodations $300
○ Visa costs $200
○ Local transportation $50
○ Meals $50
African Diaspora Investment Symposium Prize
Scholars can apply to attend and present their Ashinaga Proposal research at the African Diaspora Investment Symposium, hosted by our partner the African Diaspora Network. The $1,000 Prize covers:
○ Flight $500
○ Accommodations $400
○ Meals $100
Ashinaga Masters in Africa Program
In 2021, Ashinaga launched a new program called the “Ashinaga Masters in Africa” (AMIA). This program offers Ashinaga Graduates from our flagship tertiary education program, the Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI), an annual grant for postgraduate study at top-tier universities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
AMIA grew to include The Ashinaga MBA in Africa (AMBIA) in 2024, a postgraduate program enabling outstanding AAI Graduates to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. MBA programs can provide Graduates with advantages in gaining certain high-rewarding occupations or equip them to become entrepreneurs.
