Endalk reflected on one of the guest speaker's comments, that when people think about problems in Africa, they often think that money is the main issue in solving a problem; instead, he explained, problems can be solved through connection and the management of money and resources already in hand. Salifu was inspired by the investment event's emphasis on the role of African youth, an underutilized population who can make impact on the continent. Ditrick was surprised by the number of Africans living in the diaspora, who may be potential investors in African entrepreneurial projects.

“Reuniting with my Ashinaga US family is always a nostalgic and happy experience. During this wonderfully planned exploration weekend, thanks to the US Ashinaga coordinators, I had an opportunity to meet the new scholars for the first time despite covid delaying this encounter. No doubt, I will come back next year to experience this great social environment if another opportunity comes by.”

“My four years in the Ashinaga Africa Initiative program have been undoubtedly an unmatched experience. When I first arrived in Uganda for prep camp, I didn’t really know what to expect, but the entire experience blew my mind. I met a lot of amazing people who have contributed to my access as a person and a future African leader.“

“Throughout my time at Duke University, I have been building my confidence, and now, more than ever, I am unapologetic about how I speak.”

“From studying abroad and beyond, I am grateful that I get to experience life in a different culture and associate with people. Each new experience makes me learn more about myself and appreciate all that life offers.”

Due to COVID-19, Ashinaga USA Tsudoi was held virtually for the second year, but we made the most of it and were joined by some outstanding guest speakers. With seventeen Scholars in attendance from December 19 to 21, the theme of Tsudoi 2021 was "Entrepreneurship and Networking."
